News just in and the videos below show the extent of the damage to the region and roads the Tour de France will use in late July 2018. The landslide on the Col d’Aubisque was caused by the deluge in the region which has also resulted in major flooding, bridges, towns have been reported washed away.

The sections of road affected are the final mountain climbs of this years 200km “Queens stage19” of the Tour de France. The region is no stranger to this type of damage as the heavy rains and snowmelt combine. 2013, the backside of the Col du Tourmalet road wash completely destroyed from a flash flood. Initial reports are suggesting the western side of the Col du Tourmalet and Lourdes may again have copped the brunt of the damage in these recent heavy rains and floods.

We’ll keep you posted as more information comes in from the Pyrenees in the south of France.

This second Video from France3 show the  extent of the damage to Lourdes, the first images of the Lourdes Cathedral, grotto etc (It’s 17min long no need to watch all ;-))

We hope all our friends in the region are safe and well.
